Contradance - General Information

Click the calendar link above for upcoming dances.

This is one of the most enjoyable, exciting, fun activities you will ever experience. Everyone is welcome and it's easy to learn, so newcomers are especially encouraged. A typical evening features New England style contradance - a highly energetic, yet easily accessible social activity. All dances are taught, with a caller reminding everyone of the moves throughout. As the dance progresses, partners switch places with other pairs of dancers so everyone eventually dances with everyone else as they move along the line. This makes for a great friendship-building, and community-building activity.

Almost any age can participate, and, because people regularly change partners throughout the evening, it can be enjoyable for anyone who doesn't have a partner or doesn't need to spend the entire evening with the same person. Even better, we have wonderful, live music!

This is an informal activity, so come as you are. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for those under 18 and students with ID. Family maximum is $17. Children below school-age are free (parents remain responsible). Important shoe policy - please bring clean soft-soled shoes to change into before dancing (see details at the link above). Any metal or other abrasive on the bottom of shoes will scratch the floor. Many tennis shoes hold stones and grit in their treads and will damage the floor too.

Contradances are normally on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Check the latest schedule and location information before you come.
